Course Overview
This course is all about making autobiographical comics inspired by childhood, taught by Sadie Levine!
Sadie will be going over childhood being a rich stage of life to draw inspiration from, the fickleness of childhood friendships, diving into memory, creating characters, breaking the rules of reality, imaginations and inner worlds, and emotion-based storytelling.
What’s Involved:
Starting May 7, 2026
Weekly 2-hour live sessions (on Zoom)!
Guided critiques and demonstrations
A deep dive into memory and personal experience
Exploration of imagination using character-driven, emotion-based storytelling exercises
Calls will include live instruction, time to work on exercises, and feedback on work.
Class videos, audios, chats, and transcripts will be saved and archived for the duration of the course.
There is a small Mighty Networks component for this course. Sharing in the Mighty Networks, which is our host site for community interaction and sharing work, will be encouraged. However, most instructor feedback will be in the live classes.

About the Instructor
Sadie Levine
Sadie Levine is an enchanted girl with magic powers and a completely firm grip on reality. She is normal in the brain and heart, and is definitely not even a little bit scared of butterflies. Sometimes she draws things.
Sadie has worked as an editorial illustrator and has self-published many zines and a few children's books. She is the recipient of a Mini-Grant from the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo and the Grand Purchase Prize from the 10th Baker & Whitehill Student Artists' Book Contest. All her work is hand-drawn.
