Explain the calls to me…

Sure! We have two types of calls. LARGE group calls and SMALL mentoring group calls. No calls are required, as we can help everyone asynchronously in the community network, but it’s true the calls are certainly beneficial to the program.

The LARGE GROUP calls happen on WEDNESDAYS, 2 PM Eastern with JESS RULIFFSON. We expect to have an evening LARGE GROUP call lined up at least bi-weekly in the 8 pm Eastern slot as well.

Those are not required, and look at big picture topics about working on your graphic novel. Those are for general guidance, conversation and questions. There are usually 30+ or more people on those calls.

Additionally, we have between 3 and 5 mentors who will work with smaller groups of students on their specific project.

Those calls vary, but we tend to have one in the early mornings, one the mid afternoon and one in the late evenings, all Eastern time. We'll have on in the late afternoon/early evening as well. Those calls usually have 15 or so people on them.

Together, We'll Work through the Steps of Completing a Graphic Novel

  • Honing in on your idea: Choosing what to work with

  • Parameters and Formats: What external specifics to aim for.

  • Story and Structure: Using tools to compel the reader.

  • Keeping Going: How to find the energy to keep going.

  • Planning the Finish: Making a plan for the upcoming weeks, months or whatever it takes!

  • Publishing and Sharing: Lots of stories about how to wrap it up for the world.

  • Reflection: Learning from what you have experienced and accomplished.
