We’re going backs to basics with comics 101. In five weeks we hope to answer the questions, what is a comic? How do I make one? How do I make it good?

Students will create characters, settings, stories and make their own booklets! Limited to 14 people! Have fun and tell your stories taught by SAW alum, Emma Jensen. This class meets Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 PM, starting October 23 at the Sequential Artists Workshop, Gainesville.

About the instructor: All the way from Melbourne, Australia, Emma Jensen came to Gainesville for the year-long intensive workshop, and stayed for the Spanish-moss covered trees and comics community. She has a long publication history in Australian indie-publications including Voiceworks, Going Down Swinging, and Scum Mag. Before coming to SAW, Emma worked as an illustrator, editor and community arts educator, teaching comics throughout Melbourne and rural-Victoria for organisations such as Express Media, State Library of Victoria, and Yarra Youth Services. You can read some of her self-published work online, here.

Price: Sliding scale between $85-200.

About sliding scale pricing: Please pay what you can. If you can afford to pay a little (or a lot) more, you can help us make fantastic SAW learning experiences accessible to students in need, and you’ll help our indie art school grow and thrive.
