About the weeklong -

For beginners and experienced students alike, this personalized, supportive learning environment is designed to move any project ahead by leaps and bounds.

You’ll leave inspired and armed with useful techniques and insights to keep up your creative momentum.

Brimming with creative energy, SAW is a home-away-from-home for cartoonists and artists—participants have travelled from as far as Japan to study at our weeklong workshops.

Our teachers tailor the Weeklong Workshop’s curriculum to each group's needs. Email us and tell us about your creative goals, artistic influences, and areas in which you’d like to improve and grow.

Our weeklong workshops generally look like -

Monday: Introductions and warm-up exercises.

Tuesday: Story-specific exercises, workshopping and studio time.

Wednesday: Visual-specific exercises, workshopping and studio time.

Thursday: Guest artist visit, workshopping and studio time.

Friday: Studio time.

Evenings include shared meals, continued time in the studio and local events.

About SAW -

The Sequential Artists Workshop (SAW) is a grassroots, non-profit comics school and creative community founded by Tom Hart in 2011. Today it is run by SAW artists who teach people how to tell stories and make comics in Gainesville, Florida, and around the world via our online courses and resources.

Price -

Sliding scale pricing options: $250, $250, $300, $400, $500.

This course is priced on a sliding scale, based on need. Please pay what you can. If you can afford to pay a little more, you'll help us make this amazing experience accessible to all. If you can't pay any of the prices listed here, reach out to emma at sequentialartistsworkshop dot org.

COVID 19 Policy -

As we return to in person programs we are conscious of maintaining safety measures for the health and safety of our community. This includes:

- Reduced class sizes to allow for social distancing;

- Masks to be worn inside;

- Increased cleaning before and after each workshopping session;

- Hand sanitizer and masks available to everyone;

- Online learning opportunities continue to be available;

- 'Happy Hour' access to the SAW space for community-members who don't feel safe sharing the space.

We encourage all of our staff, students and community to access the vaccine if possible.

We're a tiny(!) non-profit arts organization built on mutual respect. If anyone is experiencing symptoms we ask that they notify the school immediately and stay home until they've received a negative test to help protect our other students, staff and artist community we share the building with.

This workshop is subject to cancellation depending on recommendations from the CDC.

Come explore at SAW!
