Friday Night Comics Tom Motley's Daredoodles

#FridayNightComicsPostHere

We had a great time with Tom Motley from SVA who brought us through DAREDOODLES, some inventive ways to make characters and comics !

Check it out below, and SHARE what you did in this thread on your own with the #FridayNightComicsPostHere tag on our free online Comics Community or #fridaynightcomics @comicsworkshop on Social Media.

Here are some screengrabs!

Here's what we did:

Tom is demoing DAREDOODLES 1-4#1 when you begin with some sort of shape. And on that shape you put a faceDraw it off to the side for 3/4 view!

#2Daredoodle #2Start with a “forceful” shape. Something bending as if it has impulseMe to Everyone (7:14 PM)Here, we are using this for a body. Tune into the curves, let the limbs flow from the form…

You can add clothing details etc and use it to show the shape of the body

DAREDOODLE 3Start with a SQUIGGLEA SQUIGGLE doesn’t cross itself(As opposed to a “scribble”)Me to Everyone (7:16 PM)Make your SQUIGGLE a head

Make your SQUIGGLE a headDaredoodle #4A SQUIGGLE becomes a body. You can introduce a twist.

Round 2, we’ll start adding comic elements. Speech, word balloons, sound effects, emojis, emanatas, etc
Ask yourself how do these two characters relate to each other?

So PANEL 2, We COULD continue the landscape. Or Zoom in. Or Zoom OUT.Or REPEAT the same background. Or CUT to something else, across the street or some where else, or in time.
