Community workshop presented by SAW x Satchel’s x The Satch Patch Nursery
Join us for drawing, comics, and zine-making among and inspired by plants! We’ll meet in person in the back greenhouse (aka Jungle) at Satchel’s Pizza, and use its many intriguing and magical botanical specimens as our source material.
Artists of all levels welcome!

When, Where, & Who?
—-> When: Sunday November 1, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM.
—-> Where: In-person at the Back Greenhouse @ Satchel's (1800 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609)
—-> Who: Artists ages 14+ of all levels interested in zines and comics! Limited to 50 participants per session. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
What You’ll Learn
Guided warm-up drawing and writing exercises to spark creativity
How to use plants’ shapes, colors, and textures as inspiration
Techniques for creating a short narrative comic or a poetic/abstract mini-zine
Tips for visual storytelling, layout, and combining image and text
Optional collage techniques to add depth and texture to your zine or comic
What You’ll Need
Materials will be provided!
Optional (Bring Your Own):
Paper or sketchbook
Pens, pencils, or markers
Scissors and glue (optional, for collage)
Magazines, colored paper, or found textures (optional)
Willingness to play!
No prior experience needed — this is a fun, low-pressure workshop!
Class size is limited to 50 participants. Subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment isn’t met.
