The Friday Night Comics workshops were started by the Believer Magazine in the fear and isolation of 2020, and were taken over by The Sequential Artists Workshop in 2021. In the beginning, Zoom was new to most of us, and we watched these heroically brave comic artists as they learned in front of a very large online audience how to share their screen, how to spotlight someone, how to mute and unmute - and we all learned too. These early workshops are full of a very sweet awkwardness. They are full of all of us scared, all of us living through circumstances we never expected to live through.

Catch the replay of our most recent Friday Night Comics Workshop! We had an amazing time with the brilliant Alabaster Pizzo, artist of Prayer to St Terese, and Mimi and the Wolves. She had us drawing from google maps, searching for places we wished to travel - interiors and exteriors, and making our comics there. We went deep and had fun, like most Friday Night Workshops. Our next Friday Night Comics Workshop is with Nicole J. Georges! Develop a daily practice of combining comics and self-care by charting your emotions and drawing yourself into joyful and soothing situations.

Friday Night Comics Workshop: The Bad Art Hour with Daryl Seitchik! This workshop will focus on how embracing mistakes in drawing and storytelling can free us up and lead to happy accidents we wouldn't have come to any other way. There will be some drawing warm ups, a short google slides talk, and then an exercise in improvised comics + time to share. It's the class *I* need right now, so I'm hoping other people will benefit too!
