What bastion do we have?

Everything right now is designed to keep us from ourselves, and to keep us from each other.

The distractions, the politics, the voter disenfranchisement, the Alexas and the phones all keep us in their system and out of the ones we create for each other...

Our summer teen tween comics art students made great work and have waited a whole 3 months for a celebratory art show, while we moved our whole school!

Come out on Oct 19 and celebrate the hard work they did and grab a copy of the anthology of work made during the two-week program.

Join us for Chris Brokaw and Thalia Zedek's Gainesville stop on their fall living room tour. It's their only Florida show! Formerly of Come, Codeine, Live Skull, Uzi, Lemonheads, and a lot of other projects you'd definitely love, they're also both excellent solo songwriters and this show will be very special. 

Do you have your Narrative Image?

At the end of this sequence, hopefully we have a "Narrative Image." Just a single doodle or drawing from our doodling as we were gathering ideas.

When I finished Rosalie's book, I still had a lot of processing to do. I wanted to further understand what I had went through. I looked at the books that had inspired me, and I asked what made them great, useful, inspiring.

Derek Ballard came and talked about working for Adventure Time. I love this 45 seconds where he talks about being a parent of three and how it made its way into the final script.

What I learned from Lynda Barry about stories and flow and avoiding the inner critic!

I was extremely fortunate to take a week-long workshop in person with Lynda Barry back in 2001. A LOONG time ago now!

That workshop, "Writing the Unthinkable" was all about "seeing your story" and following behind it, "like water skiing."
